Mustangs - wild horses
In our first magazine, I want to tell you about wild horses mustangs.
The ancestors of mustangs were Spanish conquerors’ wild horses. They were brought to America in the 16th century. Some of these horses fled and adapted to life in prairie.
Mustangs form small herds, which consist of a stallion and from 2 to 18 mares, foals and young horses. The herd occupies a territory, guards it and gets food there.
Like other horses, mustangs eat only vegetation. These horses can manage without food and water for a long time.
At one time, there were a lot of mustangs and their herds were very big. Unfortunately, there aren’t many mustangs in our days. They live now only in 9 states of USA.
Interesting facts:
A word «mustang» came from Spanish words «mestengo», «mesteño» and «mostrenco», that mean «roving animals», «wild» and «nobody’s».
There are mustangs on the 25-cent coin of Nevada.
Today, mustangs are protected by the law of USA.
Mustangs and mustanger are the heroes of the Mayne Reid’s novel "The Headless Horseman".

I think, that I'll add more information tomorrow...

It is a variety of the article. You don't have to use it, if you don't like it, but it's just my variety
